What is PEG MGF?
PEG MGF is a splice variant of IGF-1 that the body produces after muscle damage, pegylated so it survives long enough to inject.
Also sold as pegylated mechano growth factor or MGF.
When a muscle is damaged by training, your body produces a variant of IGF-1 called mechano growth factor that activates satellite cells, the ones that repair and add nuclei to muscle fibres. Natural MGF lasts a few minutes. Attaching a polyethylene glycol chain stretches that to a couple of days, which is what makes it usable.
PEG MGF benefits
- Activates satellite cells, the mechanism behind muscle repair and growth
- Pegylation extends the half-life from minutes to a couple of days
- Targeted at recovery from training damage rather than general growth
- Not androgenic, so nothing is suppressed and no post-cycle therapy applies
PEG MGF dosage
- Standard
- 200 to 400mcg per injection
- Frequency
- 2 to 3 times per week
- Timing
- Post-training, on training days
- Route
- Subcutaneous or intramuscular
- Half-life
- About 2 days
- Run length
- 6 to 8 weeks
Two or three injections a week after training. The pegylation is what allows that frequency rather than the daily dosing natural MGF would need.
Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water. The reconstitution guide covers the method and the dosage calculator works out how much water to add for the dose you want.

At 400mcg three times a week one vial covers around a fortnight.
Store below 30°C. Protect from light. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
Who is PEG MGF for?
People already running a growth hormone or IGF protocol who want to add something aimed specifically at recovery from training damage.
It is not a starting point and it does not replace the basics. If you have not run growth hormone or a secretagogue, start there instead.
How to use PEG MGF
Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water and refrigerate once mixed. Inject after training, two or three times a week, subcutaneously or into the trained muscle.
Frequently asked questions
What does MGF actually do?
It activates satellite cells, which are the stem cells that repair damaged muscle fibres and donate nuclei to them. More nuclei means more capacity to grow.
Your body produces it naturally after training damage. The injectable version is the same signal supplied from outside and made to last long enough to be practical.
Why does it need to be pegylated?
Natural MGF survives a few minutes in the bloodstream, which is fine when it is released inside the muscle but useless if you are injecting it.
The polyethylene glycol chain shields it from being broken down, stretching the half-life to a couple of days. Without it the compound would not be usable.
Is the evidence good?
Weaker than most sources imply, and worth knowing before you spend money. The mechanism is well established in the laboratory; controlled human trials showing injected MGF produces measurable growth are not.
It is a reasonable addition to an established protocol. It is a poor place to start.
When should I inject it?
After training, on training days. The rationale is that satellite cell activation matters most when there is damage to repair.
Two or three times a week is the usual frequency given the two-day half-life.
Does it need PCT?
No. It is not androgenic and does not affect testosterone.
There is nothing for a SERM to do.
