What is PT-141 (Bremelanotide)?

PT-141 is the one that works on desire rather than plumbing. Every other product we sell for this improves blood flow; this one acts on arousal in the brain.

Also sold as bremelanotide or PT141.

PT-141 is derived from the same melanocortin family as melanotan, but selective for the receptor involved in sexual arousal rather than pigmentation. It acts in the brain rather than on blood vessels, which is what separates it from every PDE5 inhibitor. It works whether or not the problem is vascular, and it works in women as well as men.

Start at 1mg. Nausea is the dose-limiting side effect and it arrives well before any benefit is lost by going lower.

Who is PT-141 for?

People for whom desire rather than function is the problem, and people who have tried a PDE5 inhibitor and found it did not address what was actually wrong.

If the issue is getting or keeping an erection rather than wanting to, tadalafil or sildenafil are the compounds for that, and they can be used alongside this.

Before you run it. Nausea is the main limitation and it is common enough that a fair number of people decide the compound is not worth it. It is dose related, so starting at 1mg matters. Flushing and headache are also usual. PT-141 raises blood pressure transiently and lowers heart rate, which is worth knowing if your blood pressure is already high or you are on a cycle pushing it up. It is from the same family as melanotan, so some darkening of skin and moles is possible with frequent use, and the same caution applies about having your skin checked. It is not androgenic, so nothing is suppressed and no post-cycle therapy applies. Reconstituted vials go in the fridge. Not for anyone under 18, and not for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

How to use PT-141

Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water and refrigerate once mixed. Inject subcutaneously into the abdomen, 45 minutes to two hours before. No more than twice a week.

How is it different from Viagra or Cialis?

Completely different mechanism. PDE5 inhibitors improve blood flow so an erection can happen; they do nothing to desire. PT-141 works on arousal pathways in the brain.

That is why it can work for people the PDE5 inhibitors did not help. If the problem was never vascular, improving blood flow was never going to fix it.

Can I use it with a PDE5 inhibitor?

Yes, they work on different things and are commonly combined. One handles desire, the other handles blood flow.

Be sensible about blood pressure if you do. PT-141 raises it transiently and the PDE5 inhibitors lower it, so start with lower doses of both.

Why does it make me feel sick?

Nausea is the most common side effect and the usual reason people stop. It comes from the melanocortin receptors it acts on and it is clearly dose related.

Start at 1mg. If 2mg makes you feel too rough to enjoy the effect, the dose is wrong rather than the compound.

Does it work for women?

Yes, and that is unusual among the products here. PT-141 acts on arousal pathways that are not sex specific, and it was developed with female use in mind as much as male.

Doses are generally lower and the nausea is at least as common.

Will it tan me?

A little, with frequent use. It comes from the same family as melanotan and is selective for a different receptor, but not perfectly so.

At twice a week the pigmentation effect is minor. It does mean the same caution about moles applies if you use it regularly.
