What is Tamoxifen Citrate 20 (Astera Labs)?
Astera Labs tamoxifen in 20mg tablets, 50 to a sachet. The SERM most people run in post-cycle therapy and reach for when gyno starts appearing.
Also sold as Nolvadex, Zitazonium, Istubal, Kessar or Zemide.
Tamoxifen is a selective estrogen receptor modulator, which means it blocks estrogen at some receptors while leaving others alone. At breast tissue it blocks, which is what stops or reverses gyno. At the pituitary it does the opposite, signalling the body to raise its own testosterone production, which is what makes it a post-cycle compound rather than just an anti-estrogen.
Tamoxifen Citrate 20 benefits
- Blocks estrogen at breast tissue, which is how it stops gynecomastia developing and can reverse it early
- Stimulates your own testosterone production, the reason it sits at the centre of most PCT protocols
- Long half-life, so one dose a day is enough and there is nothing to time around
- Does not crush estrogen the way an aromatase inhibitor does, so the risks of running too low are lower
- 20mg tablets, which is the standard dose for both uses
Tamoxifen Citrate 20 dosage
- Post-cycle therapy
- 20 to 40mg per day for 4 to 6 weeks
- Gynecomastia
- 10 to 30mg per day, commonly 20mg
- Frequency
- Once daily, no need to split
- Start after
- 2 weeks post long ester, 2 to 3 days post short ester
- Half-life
- 5 to 7 days
The half-life is unusually long for an oral, which is why splitting the dose across the day achieves nothing. One tablet, same time each day, is the whole protocol.
Timing matters more than the number. Starting before the last compound has cleared wastes the protocol, which is what the two-week gap after a long ester is for.

Who is Tamoxifen Citrate 20 for?
Anyone finishing a suppressive cycle, and anyone who wants it on hand before they need it, because gyno is far easier to stop early than to reverse once tissue has formed.
NOLVAMED 20 is the same strength from Deus Medical. For gyno that is already established rather than starting, raloxifene has the better record.
How to use Tamoxifen Citrate 20
Swallow one tablet with water at the same time each day, with or without food. Begin only once the last compound has cleared.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use an aromatase inhibitor for PCT instead?
No, and this is the mistake that costs people their recovery. An aromatase inhibitor lowers estrogen. Recovery needs estrogen present, because the signals that restart your own production depend on it.
Crashed estrogen after a cycle looks exactly like low testosterone: flat mood, no libido, aching joints, no drive. People then assume they need more anti-estrogen and make it worse. Use a SERM for post-cycle therapy and keep the aromatase inhibitor for on-cycle.
Does tamoxifen interact with anastrozole?
Yes, and it is not widely known. Taking tamoxifen alongside anastrozole lowers the anastrozole concentration in your blood by a meaningful margin, so you get less of the aromatase inhibition than the dose suggests.
If you genuinely need both at once, exemestane does not have the same interaction and is the better pairing.
Will it reverse gyno I already have?
Early gyno, often. Established gyno, much less reliably. Once the tissue has been there for months it becomes fibrous, and no drug removes that.
That is why having it on hand before you need it matters. If the lump is already firm and long-standing, raloxifene has the better evidence, and surgery is the honest answer for anything genuinely set.
Tamoxifen or clomiphene for PCT?
Tamoxifen if gyno is any part of the picture, or if you want the gentler of the two. Clomiphene pushes LH and FSH harder but brings visual and mood side effects tamoxifen does not.
A lot of protocols simply run both, which is a reasonable approach rather than doubling up unnecessarily.
How long should I run it?
Four to six weeks for a standard post-cycle protocol. For gyno appearing mid-cycle, until it settles, which is usually a few weeks.
Confirm with bloodwork four weeks after finishing rather than deciding from how you feel.
