Description

What is BPC-157 (Pentadecapeptide)?

BPC-157 is the healing peptide people run for tendons and ligaments, the tissues that take longest to come back because they have the least blood supply.

Also sold as BPC-157, pentadecapeptide or body protection compound 157.

BPC-157 is a fragment of a protein found in gastric juice, which is where the name comes from: body protection compound. It appears to work by promoting the formation of new blood vessels into damaged tissue, which is the step that usually limits how well tendons and ligaments heal, since they have poor blood supply to begin with.

BPC-157 benefits

  • Aimed at tendon, ligament and connective tissue, which heal slowly because of poor blood supply
  • Strong and consistent effects on gut tissue in animal work
  • Can be injected near the injury for a local effect or systemically
  • Not androgenic, so nothing is suppressed and no post-cycle therapy applies
  • Very few reported side effects, even at high doses
  • 5mg per vial, which covers around two weeks at a standard dose

BPC-157 dosage

Standard
250 to 500mcg per day
Split as
One or two injections
Route
Subcutaneous, near the injury where practical
Run length
4 to 6 weeks
Often paired with
TB-500
Per vial
5mg

250 to 500mcg a day. Injecting subcutaneously close to the injured area is the usual approach where the site allows it, though systemic dosing is also used and appears to work.

It is commonly run alongside TB-500, which works on a different part of the repair process. That pairing is the standard healing protocol.

Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water. The reconstitution guide covers the method and the dosage calculator works out how much water to add for the dose you want.

Who is BPC-157 for?

People working around a tendon or ligament problem, and people with gut issues, which is the other area where the animal evidence is strongest.

For gut problems specifically, the oral capsules make more sense, since the peptide is stable in stomach acid and acts locally. For tendon, ligament or systemic use, injecting is the better route.

Before you run it. The evidence picture is worth stating plainly: the animal work on these healing peptides is extensive and consistent, and controlled human trials are essentially absent. That is a genuine gap, not a technicality. What exists is a strong mechanism, good results in rats and a very large body of user experience. Side effects are notably scarce even at high doses, which is one of the reasons it became popular. It is not androgenic, so nothing is suppressed and no post-cycle therapy applies. Reconstituted vials go in the fridge. One thing worth thinking about: a peptide that promotes blood vessel growth is not obviously a good idea for anyone with an active cancer, since tumours depend on exactly that process. That is a theoretical concern rather than a documented one, but it is the sensible caution to take. Not for anyone under 18, and not for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

How to use BPC-157

Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water and refrigerate once mixed. Inject subcutaneously, near the injured area where the site allows it, once or twice daily.

Frequently asked questions

Is there human evidence for this?

Not in the form of controlled trials, and it is worth being straight about that. The animal work is extensive and the results in rats are consistent and impressive, particularly for tendon and gut healing.

What is missing is the human trial that would turn that into medical use. Plenty of people report it works. We would rather tell you where the evidence actually sits than imply something that has not been shown.

Injection or capsules?

Depends entirely on what you are treating. For gut problems the capsules make more sense, because BPC-157 comes from gastric juice, survives stomach acid and can act locally on the tissue you want it to reach.

For tendon, ligament or any systemic use, injecting is the better route. Oral absorption into the bloodstream is limited, which matters when the target is a knee rather than a stomach.

Do I have to inject it near the injury?

It is the usual approach where the site allows it, on the reasoning that more of the peptide reaches the tissue you care about.

Systemic dosing also appears to work, and for injuries in awkward places it is the only option. Do not contort yourself trying to reach a shoulder.

How long before it helps?

Most reports describe a noticeable difference within two to four weeks on a soft tissue injury, with the run continuing for four to six.

It is not an analgesic. If pain disappears quickly that is worth being careful about, because training through a tendon injury that still exists is how it becomes chronic.

Can I run it with TB-500?

Yes, and that pairing is the standard healing protocol. They act on different parts of the repair process, BPC-157 largely on blood vessel formation and TB-500 on cell migration.

There is a combined vial if you would rather not run two.
