What is TELMIMED 40 (Telmisartan)?
TELMIMED 40 is telmisartan, a blood pressure medicine. Steroids raise blood pressure and this is one of the few things that meaningfully addresses it without blunting your training.
Also sold as Micardis, Telma or telmisartan.
Telmisartan blocks the receptor angiotensin II acts on, which is one of the main signals telling blood vessels to constrict. Blocking it lets them relax and pressure falls. Unlike a beta blocker it does not slow your heart rate, which is why it does not interfere with training the way those can.
TELMIMED 40 benefits
- Lowers blood pressure without slowing heart rate, so training is unaffected
- Very long acting, so one dose holds pressure down across a full 24 hours
- Among the better tolerated blood pressure medicines, with no cough
- Also acts on PPAR-gamma, which is why it turns up in discussions about metabolic health
TELMIMED 40 dosage
- Standard
- 40mg once daily, one tablet
- Higher end
- 80mg once daily
- Frequency
- Once daily, same time each day
- Half-life
- About 24 hours
- Time to full effect
- 4 to 8 weeks
One tablet daily. The effect builds over several weeks rather than arriving at once, so judging it after three days tells you nothing.
Measure your blood pressure before you start and while you take it. A home monitor costs very little. Taking a blood pressure medicine without knowing your blood pressure is guesswork with a real drug.

Who is TELMIMED 40 for?
Anyone whose blood pressure has climbed on cycle, which is most people running orals or anything that holds water. It is the standard first choice precisely because it does not touch heart rate.
If your heart rate is also elevated and that is part of the problem, nebivolol addresses both, at the cost of some effect on training.
How to use TELMIMED 40
Swallow one tablet with water at the same time each day, with or without food. Do not double up if you miss one. Measure your blood pressure regularly rather than going by feel.
Frequently asked questions
Why telmisartan rather than a beta blocker?
Because it does not slow your heart rate. Beta blockers lower blood pressure partly by limiting how fast your heart can beat, which caps what you can do in training and in conditioning work.
Telmisartan works on vessel constriction instead, so pressure comes down and your heart rate ceiling stays where it was. For anyone still training hard, that is the deciding difference.
How long before it works?
Some effect appears within the first fortnight, but the full result takes four to eight weeks to settle in.
That is normal for this class and not a sign the dose is too low. Give it time before adjusting anything.
Can I take it only while on cycle?
Many people do, starting it when pressure climbs and stopping once they are off and it has normalised. Unlike a beta blocker, telmisartan does not cause a rebound when stopped.
That said, if your pressure is high off cycle as well, that is a separate problem and it needs a doctor rather than a cycle-length solution.
Does it interfere with gains?
No. It does not affect hormones, it does not blunt training, and there is no mechanism by which it would reduce muscle gain.
The PPAR-gamma activity has generated some interest around metabolic effects, but nothing that would work against what you are training for.
What if my blood pressure is normal?
Then do not take it. Lowering normal blood pressure makes you dizzy and light-headed and achieves nothing useful.
Buy a home monitor first. It costs a fraction of what a cycle does and it tells you whether you need this at all.
